Restaurant Opening: The Sicilian Baker Cannoli Bar & Market

The Maggiore Group will continue its rapid expansion with the debut of a new bakery concept, The Sicilian Baker Cannoli Bar & Market. The acclaimed culinary powerhouse will be launching the new concept in three Valley markets this year including the first location in North Phoenix on March 20.

The innovative concept is the first of its kind in Arizona and features an Italian-inspired pasticceria with a made-to-order cannoli bar and an assortment of house-baked specialities straddling between traditional and modern including savory and sweet pastries and time-tested desserts developed by Maggiore family member and master pastry chef Giovanni La Rosa. An exhibition kitchen with a pastry station allows guests to watch pastry artisans in action - from kneading dough to assembling cannoli. The market offers a full-service counter with fresh pasta made daily, sauces, housemade sausages and rotating meats and cheeses delivered from around the world for a fresh, exciting selection.

With cannoli and the Maggiore family originating from Sicily, The Maggiore Group was inspired to pay homage to the classic cannolo.

“With our passion for creating and offering high-quality food, beverage and ambiance that is accessible for everyone, The Sicilian Baker Cannoli Bar & Market is a place where you can eat, drink and shop,” said Joey Maggiore, co-founder and executive chef of The Maggiore Group. “We’re bringing Sicily right here to Phoenix where our guests can enjoy quality products and the sweet life - la dolce vita!”

The cannoli bar serves as the central focus of the pastry shop, offering endless cannoli combinations, from flavored fillings to four cannoli shell sizes including bite size, regular, large and a foot-long shell. Guests can choose from 12 different sweet ricotta creams including chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, espresso, Italian Funfetti, lemon, strawberry, peanut butter, cookies and cream, chocolate and mint, and original as well as flavored shells such as white chocolate, dark chocolate, and confetti. Toppings will include Nutella, amaretti cookie crumbs, candied almonds, malted milk balls, luxardo cherries, preserved fruits, Torrone nougat candy and chocolate shavings.

Additional baked goods and sweet and savory creations include arancini, pizzettes traditional Sicilian sponge cake, cassatas, muffuletta sandwiches and a variety of Sicilian cookies. An array of beverages include cappuccinos, lattes, cold brews and Italian sparkling sodas.

The first location will open in North Phoenix in a 1,400 square-foot space next door to the acclaimed craft meatball and charcuterie bar, The Sicilian Butcher, and guests will be encouraged to walk freely between the two concepts, mimicking the experience of a true Italian market.

The bakery and market was developed by Celebrity Chef Joey Maggiore, his wife and lead designer Cristina Maggiore, business partner Flora Tersigni and creative team led by Freddy Nguyen. The Sicilian Baker’s hours of operations include 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and is located at 15530 N.Tatum Blvd. #160 in Phoenix.
